leon's first nyc trip

this past weekend leon met gus and lena. and then he met valerie and her soon-to-arrive little sprout. he played with jenny, too, and decided he wanted to move to brooklyn soon. i bought my mociun issaran dress, which is so soft and easy to wear. we went to the guggenheim, ps1, and the whitney. leon highly recommends 'afterparty' (a.k.a. woolly mammoths) at ps1 and the dan graham exhibit at the whitney (mirrors and crazy funny films). we walked along diller + scofidio's high line and wondered why boston wasn't able to do something similar with the central artery. there were a few epic meltdowns along the way. staying at the ace made the trip manageable. we stuffed ourselves in koreatown and wished we could have bought even more things at the sale (those corwin+mociun pillows!). and then we took the train home and plotted our next nyc trip. maybe in august for the summer sales.

imaginary outfit for new york--even*cleveland

imaginary outfit: erica (and leon) in NYC
imaginary outfit: erica (and leon) in NYC by stephanie

i've already professed my love for stephanie's imaginary outfits--this one is for our impending trip to nyc for lena's studio sale.

i also thought her 'how i'd wear it' for camp comfort was pitch perfect.

stephanie featured the red version of these f-troupe sandals in her post on the underrated profession of homemakers. there are black patent leather and tan versions on sale for $87 at creatures of comfort. probably not the best for city walking, but very hard to resist.

frances may sale starts this friday + lena corwin studio sale

20-60% off this friday at frances may, which is fast becoming one of my favorite shops in person and online. i love how the outfits are put together and photographed.

speaking of mociun, matthew, leon and i are trying to make it to lena corwin's studio sale this saturday. maybe we'll see some of you there!

rachel comey trader's dress on ebay

romaine is selling her trader's dress on ebay. it runs small, especially in the bust, so if you're a medium (6-8), the large would probably work best. it is also semi-sheer and best worn with leggings or bike shorts. most of the larger sizes are gone, now, so $229 (free shipping) is a pretty great deal (regularly $350-390). the pattern is exuberantly gorgeous, but i don't think it would work with my coloring. rachel comey's spring 09 collection is my favorite so far, hopefully i can pick up something in the summer sales.

summer greys+apc sale

i haven't worn this sunshine and shadow linen dress in nearly a year, but yesterday was relatively warm compared to the grey skies we've had this june. i should try belting things more often. i almost prefer jenny's tunic version. the pockets bug me on the dress (they're too low for me).

supposedly there's an apc sale going on right now, but it doesn't look like much is marked down on the website. hmm.

mociun argan tie-front dress

on sale at standard deviation for $184 (s and m left)

photo from kick pleat

lena just posted a photo of her lovely new mociun issaran dress, which seems to be a more promising shape for me. the tie-front and i don't really get along, although i wish we did!

anyway, it's on sale for $217 at kick pleat (m and l left).

my clothing budget is depleted thanks to my new united bamboo dress. maybe i'll be able to find the issaran on sale later when my funds are replenished.

my new uniform

united bamboo tuck dress, purchased at stel's. also available at creatures of comfort ($310 on sale), opening ceremony ($445). a darker version is at totokaelo and bird.

beautiful construction inside and out, fits true to size. if you wear a six but have narrow hips, i would recommend a 4, but otherwise, best to stick with your regular dress size.

mayle for sale: new mirabelle in black, size 6 [SOLD]

i'm very sad to let this go, but i'm never going to wear it. i bought it from the elizabeth st. shop in february. it's a heavy silk, fully lined, and drapes beautifully. i'll add measurements tomorrow morning, but it's a loose fitting dress. it could probably even accommodate a size 8. the hem hits a few inches above the knee, obviously not as short as on the model. works best with heels, of which i don't own a single pair!

SOLD, thanks!

major wardrobe purging

pam's lina rennell top

ratita's tsumori chisato top

carissa's repetto flats

genevieve's corso como riding boots

pam's T by alexander wang dress

laws of general economy has a ton of awesome items available nowadays from a lot of our favorite designers including a.p.c., dace, repetto, lina rennell, mociun, and T by alexander wang.

i am also in the process of ruthlessly cutting my wardrobe down to size. as much as it hurts me, if it doesn't fit or isn't being worn, it's time to say goodbye. pieces include the dace molly rain jacket, mociun ikat tie-front dress, two a.p.c. dresses, and a skirt by uniform studio.
