Of course, only you know the culture of where you're interviewing. Still, erring on the side of polished professional is safest, I would say, even at a SLAC (hence the suit). Either way, you're right that the focal point is ultimately not the outfit. Enjoy!

Cyber Mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17905631575989769348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33197783.post-733435586163996562013-03-11T14:07:52.916-04:002013-03-11T14:07:52.916-04:00Brianna and CyberMe--

A friend who had 3 flybacks this season, 2 at SLACs, said to go with a more polished version of what you would teach in. Another friend said absolutely no to cropped pants, and a third thought a suit would make me look younger than I already do (since I don't wear makeup or blow out my hair).

It's hard to decide, but I'm going to stick with the skirt, pair it with a SA blazer and the ankle boots, and hope that the skirt and top (under a plain gray crewneck sweater) will come off as interesting details rather than the focal point.

Thanks for the BB advice, Mona! There wasn't anything on sale when I went last week, but I'll keep them in mind in the future.ericahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11414537639917539473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33197783.post-32989989645283132712013-03-10T20:26:19.377-04:002013-03-10T20:26:19.377-04:00A quick plug for non-iron brooks brothers shirt fo...A quick plug for non-iron brooks brothers shirt for women, some have very cute collar detail with a line of color stitching and the non-iron is a god send. In the sale section, the price is better than madewell and jcrew. Tailored is bad, fittest and classic fit are good. The website is poorly styled but out of context, the shirts are great.Monahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17735376215661920718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33197783.post-6397235682983372502013-03-09T14:05:39.655-05:002013-03-09T14:05:39.655-05:00Agreed - campus interviews typically involve a sui...Agreed - campus interviews typically involve a suit, or at least slacks and a blazer. You can still add an interestingly-coloured silk shirt and scarf / jewellery, but I wouldn't risk looking too casual. You want to impress deans, chairs, faculty, and even students as professional. There's always the chance to dress creatively - after the job is secured!

Cyber Mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17905631575989769348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33197783.post-64378484510492768242013-03-09T00:29:43.278-05:002013-03-09T00:29:43.278-05:00I love the Mars booties, for sure. What about some kind of tapered and/or cropped trousers (I tried some nice ones on at Aritzia recently, of all places), a silk or cotton blouse (Everlane, Equipment, whatever) and a blazer (if needed) with the Mars booties?

(I'm a long-time reader, but can't recall if I've posted a comment before or not. Love your style. The Rag and Bone boots are really nice, but they hit higher on the ankle than the Mars, if that is something that matters to you. I also like the Clarks Water Row lace-up. The heel is about half an inch higher than the Mars, but they are still really easy to walk in.jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10455079295448117881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33197783.post-79632415604250798422013-03-08T07:47:37.448-05:002013-03-08T07:47:37.448-05:00What do you think of gunmetal gray?
