a mini shopping spree

thanks to emmaclaire and jennifer for their suggestions. i ordered the l.l. bean kids' fisherman sweater in a medium (hopefully it will fit based on comments i read on other blogs). at $40, i couldn't really say no!

i also bought a pair of jcrew toothpick jeans. i've never owned colored-jeans before, and i'm very late to that bandwagon, but hopefully they will cheer me up during this long winter. i like the idea of a cream colored sweater with yellow bottoms, but i'm not sure how it will look on me. jcrew is having a 25% discount on orders over $150, so i decided to buy a few things for leon as well.

in other news, i am feeling extra anxious as this election season FINALLY comes to a close.

Hooray! I like the yellow jeans and sweater combo. I hope both pieces work out for you. You have inspired me to begin searching for my own white cable-knit/fisherman sweater. I'm leaning toward an oversized men's one in the hope that it'll keep me warm in our freezing cold apartment.

Oh, and I know what you mean about election anxiety. Between the election and last week's hurricane, I am getting very little work done.

if the shrunken look doesn't work on me, i'll have to try the oversized version. leon or elias will someday be big enough to wear the sweater since i'm too lazy to do returns (especially from canada).

as long as we don't have a repeat of 2000, i'll be ok. the uncertainty is killing me!

i am tearing my hair out over here! erica, what's the mood like in toronto? are people following closely?

there are people walking around in obama beanies downtown. the expats are watching the election very closely, and everyone asks if i'm voting. we're going to stream it live on the office projector tomorrow night. my stomach is in knots...i've been having flashbacks of 2000!

So love this outfit. I doubt you will regret it and the sight of yellow on a grey day will most certainly perk you up. And such a great deal on that fisherman sweater.

i've always been tempted to order that sweater. please report back on the fit!

I was bummed that the large had sold out, but it sounds like a medium might work. I will definitely post a review once it arrives!

I'd be curious to hear how the sweater fits! I am in Toronto right now and although the temp here is the same as in Chicago, it feels so much colder here. Maybe I just didn't bring proper winter wear, though. So wishing I'd purchased those Bean boots last year...

It's super cold here in Toronto right now, but the temps are going back up soon (don't know how long you'll be in town, Anna).

I really need to order a pair of the Bean boots, too, but I'm not sure about sizing.

Erica: I am a big fan of the matchstick Jcrew, I find it forgivingly flattering for my tired mom legs. Let me know how you like the yellow toothpick. I once tried them and got to shy by the tight fit.
