rachel comey boots and mayle jacket

Update::
Zoe has the same jacket for $526. So tempting!!

i prefer the side view on the stacked-heel version for some reason. i found the prices on Tobi's site, $407 for the high heel boots, $385 for the flat boots. anthropologie is selling a version of the flat boots in 'sage'. i never wear anything with a heel (maybe a sturdy 1 1/2" wedge), but lately i've been thinking maybe. it would be redundant to buy another pair of flat boots, anyway.

as for the mayle short jacket, love it, don't need it. Jake has it for $870, but there's a toutie coupon code for 20% off.

i'm not even sure why i'm shopping for boots. it must be my autumn ritual. still no decision on the burberry trench. i feel a bit stupid spending that much money on an unnecessary something. even if it's not my money.

Damn. Now I need to buy those $385 flat boots.

(I have a vintage pair almost exactly like the stacked that I got for $10 and wear all the time, very comfy).

LOL - we have such similar taste. I have also been eyeballing the Rachel Comey flat boots - they were in Lucky mag 1 or 2 months ago. - a more affordable option than my beloved LR Matilde boots. Also I ADORE the Mayle jacket but opted with the cropped wool trench (also on impulse) as I thought it was more timeless and le$$ expensive. - M

emily--
if you end up buying those boots (black or tan), you definitely need to post pictures. they appear a bit schlumpy by themselves, but really nice on the model.

M--
i agree, the cropped wool trench is definitely a classic piece. though i admit, i'm a sucker for whimsical pieces.
i vaguely remember these boots from Lucky. there's a VPL cashmere sweater that was featured last month or so that i really really want (in grey, from shopbop). $375 is a bit much right now, though.
i feel like everyone should own these rachel comey boots, flats or otherwise.

i think tobi offers a 10% discount code (toutie.com), and shipping is free!

i just bought a really cool striped wool cardigan at TSE (there goes my clothing budget!). will post pictures when i return home from the OC.

Hey--
Love your blog...just saw that Lucky had a discount on these boots at refinery29.com(318.00) Although, I think it's just in the cola color. Don't know how I feel about the cola vs. taupe. My boyfriend is looking over my shoulder and saying these will make me look stumpy (I'm short). It will be a stumpy winter!

i prefer them in taupe, but that's mainly because i don't wear anything that would go with the darker red color. as for how they would look on, i'm about 5'5" and generally do well with a 14" shaft, so this boot would probably be fine for me. i guess it's all about the right proportions.

Funny, I saw the Mayle jacket too and jumped at it. I wonder if it was mispriced. Such a price differential. Now I have 2 Mayle jackets for this fall. That was not part of my plan. -M

I've decided to stop questioning these price differences and just buy wherever it's cheapest.

It may not have been part of your plan, but that sure is a beautiful jacket for dressing up everyday outfits! It looks like it would be cozy and warm. I'm still loving that Mayle hoodie. Oh well!

It definitely was not part of my plan and I have totally blown my budget - I think there will be no boots for me this winter. Did your trench arrive? Are you loving it? -M

God, that coat is AMAZING. And I was starting to think that Mayle had stopped making nice clothes and would only sell bizarre chunky knit sweater-things from now on.

Thanks so much for posting this information...I'm in the same boat where I love impulse's inventory but if I can find a better deal...it just makes sense

i know, i'm such a bargain fiend! i still have a soft spot in my heart for places like Impulse or Stel's because the people are so great, but my wallet is really hurting after 3 years of spending beyond my means.

I love your blog! Where can I try Rachel Comey boots in Cambridge or Boston before ordering online? I am no sure of my size? Would you get the sort ones or the tall ones of the penpal style. Gimme Shoes said they will get similar styles by the end of the month as part of the Spring 2010. They still have the taupe tall boots...I need a way to try these.
