i want to learn more about sweater fibers, and how they wear over time. some sweaters i buy become pilly and grungy-looking quickly (like a lovely marc jacobs one i bought only 2 months ago), and others stay nice for years... i wish i could tell when buying them, which would last for more than one season.
i know that i should generally stay away from angora/mohair/alpaca blends, because they tend to pill really quickly. i bought a jcrew cashmere cardigan on sale last year and it was in unwearable condition within three months. but i have a Tsesay hoodie that is in perfect condition after several years.
for me it's a trial and error process of weeding out the lesser quality brands. it's a pity, since some of them have lovely designs.
lena, i'm so sorry about your marc jacobs sweater! sooo disappointing...
Have you tried the 'sweater stone' thingy? I got one at the Container Store. You lightly scrape the top with it to get rid of the pills (www.sweaterstone.com -- no I don't work for them!). I saved a Mayle sweater recently that I was worried was gone for good.

Hehe, no problem. I bought one too! I am in your same situation (not supposed to spend money, but y'know... have to have it!) yay for us!

I had almost given up hope on this sweater too! I even contacted Humanoid's store in the netherlands with no luck. it was a total fluke i found it...
Yummy sweater!

Can i ask where you found it? I've been looking for it as well, even though I really shouldn't be spending another penny! thanks!
