mociun tie-front dresses

ignore the socks, it's cold inside my apartment...

speaking of dresses, here's my not-so-new mociun tie-front ikat dress from beklina. it's a little too big on top, so i'm going to have to get it altered when i have the chance. as you can see, it's quite short on me (5'4"), so i'll have to wear leggings with it. matthew doesn't really care for the print ("too 80s"), but i think it's lovely. on a postive note, this is a perfect dress for breastfeeding, so i'm sure i'll be wearing it often this summer.

the ikat is wonderful! i really wanted this dress, but i'm nearly 5'8", and everyone advised me to look elsewhere. i wish kate mociun would just make a slightly longer version!

i agree, a few more inches wouldn't hurt this design. i'd also love to see pockets, the skirt is voluminous enough to hide them, but then again, i always want pockets on my dresses...

it looks great on you!

The dress looks great, and you look great in it. I love the muted colours of the Ikat print. How wonderful that it is suitable for breastfeeding too.

The ikat dress looks great on you. For whatever reason, it looked shorter on me, even though I'm 5'3". I converted mine into a top and wear it w/a cardigan to make it look less voluminous. I agree that Mociun should make a slightly longer version w/pockets.

I have this dress as well. Loovee the print and fabric. I'm 5'6" and it is short on me. I wear it over leggings/ tights or over jeans. Not brave enough to wear it out of the house with just bare legs.

A few inches longer, and pockets would equal perfection!

I'm only 4'10'', so the length is ideal. The chest is another issue, though--I do wish she designed for those of ampler proportion in that respect...

Erica - this looks great. Just started reading your blog - congrats on your new baby. And don't you look fantastic for a mum with an infant! (I did not follow this mold, let me tell you...) :-)

erica - it looks lovely! and you can style it so many ways to play off the print - with a cardigan, blazer, vest, etc. it's so great that you're finding a way to stay stylish as a new mom :)

cute!

my husband told me that my new fave dress made me looked like i worked at the thrift shop (a dress from totokaelo). husbands!!!

oh no - that (right above) doesn't sound the way i meant. we have thrift shop run by a religious group and they dress more like the amish - not that there is anything wrong with that, I just wasn't going for that look! also, my husband thought it looked like something that cost a few bucks as most clothes at thrift shops do. I shop alot at thrift shops and wouldn't mind working at one, i wasn't trying to be snobby, sorry if i sounded that way.

romaine,
you didn't sound snobby at all. in fact, i would consider that a compliment if my husband said it to me. most girls who work at thrift shops dress really well!

matthew also told me that my denim Isabel Marant dress makes me look like an Oregon hippie mom from the 80s. he has a thing against the 80s, apparently.

which dress from Totokaelo was it?

erica,
thanks. the dress is short sleeved and mostly grey from united bamboo that buttons up the front. I haven't worn it yet though I got it about 6 weeks ago. It may have been from the resort line. i debated alot over keeping it - even if it makes me look frumpy, i still like it alot and it is very comfy.

I love that dress, Romaine. I saw it in Bird, I think, earlier this year.

Erica, you look lovely in your Mociun dress. At 5'10" their short dresses never fit me and their long dresses are too long (I don't usually wear longer dresses as I feel frumpy in them). And, yes, the tie front makes this a perfect breast-feeding dress. It's great all round.

looks great!

and yes, it will be great for breastfeeding!
i have this dress addiction since i was pregnant cause it´s easy, comfortable and it´s just one peace that makes you look good if you have no time for thinking about what you wanna wear!

YOU LOOK GREAT!

and i love the socks on that picture! lol

moya, thanks - i'll try to wear it with confidence. Since it is very light weight without being see-through and very loose fitting,
at least it'll help keep me cool when temps hit 90 to 100 plus degrees here.

erica, i really like 80s inspired clothes. perhaps because that was when i was a teen.

romaine,
if i remember that dress correctly, it's lovely in a quiet way.

julia,
so true, dresses are much easier to wear when the baby is crying and you're pressed for time! but nursing brings its own challenges when it comes to dresses.

moya,
i know what you mean about the lengths not being quite right for taller people. i found the longer tie-front dress to be too long on me, but i am addicted to this style!

thanks for all the nice comments! even though i still don't leave the house very often, it makes me feel so much better to dress up. today leon and i went out with the stroller. it was a bit of a production, but it'll get easier.
