we're back and running

maybe it's because i was taking care of leon, but i didn't buy a single thing while in southern california. i did, however, try on the Steven Alan silk Soma dress, which is now on sale for 50% off (ron herman and SA). first off, i love the fit and print. it has zippers at the shoulders, along with a side zipper. the waist is very fitted around the ribcage, so i would have been better off in a medium. also, the dress is quite short.

no new clothing, but i did enjoy more than a few servings of pinkberry green tea frozen yogurt. not too bad as a consolation prize.

Oh it looks so 'California' in your photos. And what a cute couple you two make in your stripes! Glad you had a great time.

I've been wondering about that dress - I love the orange print.

You two in your stripes are too much. Love the sunglasses.

Oh, I do love that shot of you and Leon on the beach! And you've got me waxing nostalgic for Jessica as THE model on Totokaelo. Ah, the good old days...

I agree with Pam -- Jessica on Totokaelo made EVERYTHING a must-have for me. Thanks for the tip about the Soma -- I've only seen it at full-price.

I haven't commented yet on the Leon pictures - they are so beautiful. Such a face!

Erica,
I am seriously considering the dress, but the length concerns me. So even on girls our height, it's too short?? It doesn't look too bad on Jessica, and she's got 4 inches on you and me. Please advise. (I shouldn't be looking at this in light of the Makie purchase this afternoon).

I think the small was a little too small on me (bigger ribcage post-pregnancy), so it is likely that the dress was shorter than it should have been on me. The medium should make the waist sit a bit lower so that overall the dress is longer.

I'm not as flat-chested as Jessica anymore, so that probably also contributed to the waist sitting higher on me. It was about as short on me as it is on Jessica. It didn't pass the bending-over test on me, though.

oh, we just stayed at my parents' place in laguna woods. the photo is of a house in newport beach, perched right on the cliff. most of the houses are new and hideous, but i love those 50s vernacular beach houses.

You both look so lovely and relaxed. It looks like you had a great time. Leon is looking more and more like you. He's such an adorable boy.
