speaking of chambray shirts

roberta jane's post made me think of elly's shop update. i am cursing my bad luck with shoes, but will try to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

if i buy a pair of rachel comey shoes, i will probably need an insole to help with my bad arches.
last night i was leaning toward the penpal short boots in navy
this morning i told myself to stick with flats like the dewey tassel boot, but can i do tassels? i'm not sure.
and then jeana's and alyson's posts on the barbaro buckle boot make me think that my life needs a heel like that.

of course i then remind myself of my bad track record with rachel comey shoes.

don't these quoddy tracker boots look comfortable? but they aren't nearly as pretty. oh, and these look very promising, although the exchange rate is never ever favorable. i will have to put them on my sale watch.

then i tell myself i should just make a decision already and move on with my life. or maybe i could visit stephanie and try on all of these lovely shoes in person.

EDIT:
revolve clothing has a 20% discount code (until the 30th), INSTYLE09. i'm not sure, but i think it will work on their 'Forward' site. the dewey tassel boots would only be $264. free shipping both ways makes Revolve one of my favorite sites even though i've returned the two things i ordered from them. they also have the Steven Alan Soma dress in purple paisley (only a small left), and loads of Current/Elliott jeans.

Visit and try on! That is clearly the best solution.

I think you could totally rock the tassels (and Elly's shirt is my favorite so far)

that chambray shirt is ultra cute.

All those shoes are really great looking. I love Rachel Comey's shoes for their style. They are innovative while still being very wearable (at least looks wise but maybe not always that comfortable). The quoddys, while maybe not in the pretty category, have a definite cuteness and cool factor too. i hope you find a pair of shoes that you love :)

I have such problems with RC shoes too! It doesn't help that her wedge heels (and the really bulbous one on the barbaro boots) are just solid chunks of wood. "Ergonomically very unfriendly," as my boyfriend puts it. Not so good for women who don't wear heels with any frequency. On the other hand, I love Quoddy. They never go out of style!

I'm sorry that the Zizis didn't work out. I purchased a pair from Steven Alan two years ago and the salesperson told me that they ran smaller than other Repetto styles. I normally wear 36 in Repetto flats, and I went up to a 37 in the Zizis. I probably could have gone up to a 37.5. Have you seen the new Cole Rood & Haan shoes? The leather doesn't look soft, but Cole Haan offers shoes in wide sizes.

Erica, I agree with Stephanie that you could totally rock the tassels...they are subtle and not at all fringe-y. They are my favorite boots of the ones you showed. The Toast oxfords are really great too. It's so much fun to follow your quest for fall shoes, although I'm sure you are super frustrated that you haven't yet found the *perfect* pair!

I'm not sure about the tassels - they seem like a huge commitment. I hope that you find the perfect pair soon and am very disappointed for you that the zizi's didn't work out.

Any thoughts on the RC penpal boots vs. the sir barton boots? I'm obsessed with the navy color and thought I was sold on the penpal until I saw the other ones. I would like to order from domahoka and they only have the penpal ... curious to hear what other people think.

i've been wanting the j.crew chambray shirt for a while now. it looks sooo comfy. i love ALL the shoes you posted about! i just got my rachel comey penpal ankle boots in black last night, and i love them so much! i had to go up half a size because her shoes are very narrow and my feet are normal width, not narrow. i hope you find your dream shoes. each of the ones you like have totally different looks/purposes. not to be an enabler, but i think every girl needs both a pair of oxfords and a pair of high heeled ankle boots.

jenny-
so glad to hear you finally got your pair of black ankle boots! i would probably have to go up to a size 9 if i ordered them.

i agree, a pair of oxfords and a pair of high-heeled ankle boots would really round out my shoe collection....

gimme shoes has free shipping, so i might go ahead and order something from them. at least then i would only have to pay the return shipping.

i love elly's shirt - how'd you even hear about this shop update?! the only reason i saw either of them was through your blog...so thanks :)

oh my word, erica! no wonder everything sold out so fast - thank you! i didn't even get a chance to blog about it, although more than a few family emergencies combined with a shop update didn't mix so well...
