first snow of the season

(yes, that's leon playing with a cardboard box in which hector is hiding)

new custom skirt by modaspia
new falke tights

i bought a wreath, but the wreath hook doesn't fit over our front door, so it's now draped over a doorknob in the common hall. baby steps...

i love that sweater! what a perfect outfit. i hear you on the baby steps with christmas decor. i have never done it up, but now that we have a baby i feel like it's my responsibility to bring the festive.

your outfit is adorable! i had a question about the no. 6 boots: did you find them a little difficult to tug on at first? i'm debating whether or not to get them given that i have wide feet. thanks for any advice....

adorable!

re: xmas decorations. feel ya, my husband & i were the same, after our first kiddo, we sent out word to friends & family that we'd love ornaments. boy, did everyone oblige! in fact, b's pop gave us a huge box of vintage ornaments which hold xtra-special meaning every yr we put 'em up since his passing. many older relatives have since downsized to smaller or no-tree seasons so they were happy to part with some of their ornaments...makes for great holiday conversation :)

happy holiday!

the sweater is from ages ago, by demylee. i wear it almost every day when i'm at home.

melissa,
i hear you about the baby putting pressure on me to decorate. i already dropped the ball on halloween and thanksgiving. as you can see, our place has been trashed by baby stuff. it's going to be hard decorating if it means tidying everything up!

joyce,
my feet are pretty wide--not super wide, but wide enough that they fit birkenstocks perfectly. i didn't have any problem with the width on the no. 6. their shape is more clog-like, so they should be fine for you.

What a darling outfit. The sweater is super and Ursula did a lovely job with the skirt. see Leon is helpig out round the house?

As for decorations here, surprisingly Audrey hasn't been tempted to dismantle our Christmas tree. Quite amazing actually. Probably because she is busy pulling herself up to stand now. Is Santa paying a visit to Leon this year?

Love the skirt, especially with the tights and boots! What fabric did you get?I would love to order one, but am always so worried it won't fit right. I've had some bad skirt experiences.

catherine, this is promising news. i've been worried that leon will destroy the christmas tree, so i was considering getting a tiny tabletop one. i have a feeling leon is going to get ALL of the presents this year, leaving us with lumps of coal.

leanne, i chose a thick wool that is a bit stiffer, like outerwear. i think the softer wools would be a better choice because they will drape nicely. the skirt is very easy to wear, it has a wide elastic waistband. it fits true to size, i went with a small which has just enough wiggle room to pull it on.

did you get the knit apc skirt? i hope you're feeling well and finding lots of nice things to wear!

Yes! I went to APC on Saturday and picked up a black one in medium. It looks slightly different - no pockets and perhaps shorter? But I love the waistband. Do you think the modaspia one would work? I also saw a lovely linen tunic in grey, but I already have a grey tunic from Lisa. Now I have about three things that are comfy. My jeans are just starting to annoy me because I spend a lot of time sitting. Okay - more in email later :)
ps - know anyone interested in rc penpal in black? Brand new? Too narrow.

I love this outfit - it looks festive.

Maybe I need to get a box for Nora to hide in when Leon visits?

this outfit is perfection, Erica...you never disappoint!

leanne-
no pockets on mine, either, it just looks like it has pockets. not sure the modaspia skirt would work, depends on how you carry. i carried low, so this kind of waistband would start being very uncomfortable around 7 months.

would love those penpals except they're too narrow for me, too (especially post-leon).

about babies and christmas trees - i secured our with fishing line tied to heavy bookshelves or other types of things and also put the tree on large wooden boxes or hard sided suitcases and then put anything breakable up higher. my kids were very into anything the could get their hands on, like most i suppose, and i never had any mishaps.

erica, you look so cute!

I have a question about the No6 boots! Is the wood waterproofed, or in any case have you worn them in bad weather? I looked on the site at the darling sheepskin lined ones and it says the leather is treated but doesn't mention the wood. And I was looking at the Hasbeens clog boots and they say you can't wear them in the rain etc, which is clearly impossible if you live in London.
