happy holidays!

photo from orangette

this is my seventh(!) winter in cambridge, and i'm still waiting for my white christmas. i'll be spending tonight and tomorrow cooking and baking, which is no a mean feat on my part. a bourbon soaked dark chocolate cake is in the oven as i type, and many more goodies will follow tomorrow.

i hope everyone has a safe and cosy holiday season!

Dear Erica,

I am a pretty new reader of your blog (were googling sth like "Rachel Comey" or "Steven Alan" & then here I am ^o^) & this is my 1st time dropping a few words.

Wish u & your family have a happy holidays & even better 2010!

I got the same Frye Paige boots in your pic, what a sweet coincidence! However I never take risk to wear them in snow, isn't it non-weatherproof?

the cake is so boozy and delicious, i highly recommend it! i don't have a bundt pan, but it came out ok in my regular cake pan.

tracy-
the fryes aren't exactly weatherproof, but i've worn them for at least two winters without being worse for wear. i try to clean off the salt after every outing, and i've resoled them once.

That cake looks ridiculously good. I think I might have to make it for New Year's.

Do you have any brand or store recommendations for good/warm winter coats? Preferably wool. I figure someone who has spent seven winters in Cambridge might know something about the subject. Hope you had a good Christmas!

That cake sounded so fantastic that Sean and I nearly veered north instead of west and crashed your holiday! I hope you guys had a very calm and peaceful break with cashmere and sweatpants and treats.
