so long.

leon as the fantastic mr. fox, costume courtesy of stephanie.

it's the end of the line for me. i will be posting quite a few things on LoGE in a last ditch effort to get my house in order. i'm not sure how much longer i'll maintain LoGE, but not indefinitely. i've met so many lovely people through this blog, for which i'll always be grateful. but there are so many blogs out there now, and i need to focus on other things like applying for postdocs and finishing my PhD program.

thanks, and all my best.

This is practically the end of an era! I've always loved how you've broken down and anaylsed clothing (and other things too, of course). I totally understand the drain of time though. Best wishes from little old New Zealand.

Very sad. I stumbled upon your blog a year ago, in my quest for No.6 clog boots, and I haven't stopped reading. Then I realized you have a little boy about my son's age, and future*perfect came along (more excitement). I look for your blogs every day, with all the great little things that you share with us. You will be missed. Leon, too (that little cutie-pie).

Erica,
I, too, will miss your blog! I've followed along for at least a couple of years now, and have corresponded with you a time or two about things baby-related (my son is around your son's age) and fashion-related (and I'm in the dissertation-finishing business, too!)...
Anyway, I'm sending you hearty well-wishes!

aw shucks, but totally understand! are you going to end general economy? please tell me it will still go on?

You will be missed, Erica but I do understand. Your blog inspired me to start mine too and I know the pressures of trying to keep up with the blogging and academic writing/teaching. Good luck with the postdocs, Ph.D. and job market--and keep us posted when you have time for updates.

And Leon is completely adorable... more so with each set of photos you post.

Erica, I will miss your blog so much! You are such a strong writer and, with the Future Perfect blog especially, your words resonate greatly with me. Not to mention, you have completely enhanced my knowledge of clothing and introduced me through the blog world to so many talented craftspeople and designers. Good luck with your dissertation--may the writing flow and may you have success on your post-doc applications! I am sure you will do so well. All my best wishes.

i was searching for makie clothier some time ago & instead stumbled across this gem of a blog, which matched so many of my interests in wearables... & then 'future perfect,' which spoke to so many of my experiences w/ motherhood + post-grad work. many thanks for all the insights -

Best of luck, Erica. I've been reading your blog for at least 1.5 years, and I consider it a vital part of my fashion education. I've always admired the way you described clothing, and you've introduced me to so many great brands and bloggers.

Good luck with your endeavors, and thanks for all of the inspiration!

Would you be willing to let someone else maintain LoGE? It's such a valuable source and it would be a shame to see it go.

Hi Erica, I will miss your blog; one of the first that I ever followed. It was through you that I was introduced to the world of Steven Alan and Mociun! I also have 2 little kids and work full time, so have empathized with the ups and downs, not to mention it was nice to feel that I was not alone in my frustrations, moments of exhaustion, and stress of finding enough time to make everything work. As much as there is talk about trying to achieve balance, I have come to realize that there is no such thing! You just make it work the best you can, taking one day at a time.

Best of luck with your post doc and future plans.

fingers crossed for cornell post-doc! long cold winters and lots of fleece in place of fashion, but it's a great place for raising kids and is surprisingly multi-cultural.

hey erica - I'll miss you. Your eye has turned me on to so many designers that I would not have known about/considered as I've slowly developed a more sophisticated fashion eye. But I totally understand; I'm in the penultimate year of my own PhD program. Best of luck; the final push, the dissertation is, as I hear, a phenomenal amount of work. I hope for entirely selfish reasons that you come back to this blog or some other internet publishing forum at some point in the future because your style, verve and impeccable fashion taste have been a really good influence on me!

all best to you as well!

Erica,

I miss your blog, although I don't post alot of comments, but it feels like loosing an old friend. I work in an office job, and whenever I see a new post on your blog, it always brings a smile to my face. I wish you the best of luck with your PHD, let us know how you are going and hopefully we'll see more cute pictures of Leon.
