i bought two things last week while on my green kick. the first is a dress from aritzia, a ubiquitous canadian shop that i usually avoid because of the loud music and frantic atmosphere. i also bought a pair of matchstick cords from j.crew. i'm still not quite back to my usual size, but these will do for now.
i'm leaving for a two-day holiday without babies on saturday. i can't wait to be back in chicago again. when not soaking up chicago's modern architecture, i'll probably spend most of my time here.

I love this shade of green! Have fun in Chicago! I am going to try to see more of the city this winter. Time flies so fast and Jed is usually busy with his studies, but we have vowed to see more before we leave (which we're not sure about yet). Right now it's gorgeous weather, but that can always change (I'm hoping for some snow...)!
That place in Chicago looks excellent. (bookmarked!) I need a child-free weekend there. One of these years I need to do the Chicago architecture tour. I never get to because I have family in the suburbs, so we visit them, not the city. Have fun!

i've been to chicago twice before, but never for more than two days. it will be nice to stay on the south side this time, since i'm usually north of the Loop. i hope you get to have a couple of adventures in the city this season, anna!
erica, longman & eagle is walking distance from my house!! such an awesome spot. i recommend going to fat rice if you have the time. it's new in logan square--chinese/portuguese from macau. also, if you're around on sunday dose market at the river east art center is fantastic. here's additional info: http://dosemarket.com/
i think dose is a good way to taste a lot of the city in one place.

i've never heard of everlane, mona. does it have a shop, or is it just online?
i have a dark, almost evergreen, dress from black crane that i have yet to wear since i was feeling evergreen too, but mostly because it's been too cold to wear anything other than pants in nyc up until the last couple of days.
i lived in seattle for 11 years and the grey was ultimately one of my reasons for leaving; by year 10 i couldn't stand the constant grey and constant darkness any longer. i'd get up for work at 730 and it'd be pitch black, and by the time i got out of work at 6 it'd be nearly pitch black. i still shudder when i think about it.
The darkness is definitely hard. The flip side to living at a high latitude is that you have really long summer days. But it doesnt really compensate for watching the sun set at 4:30 pm!
Everlane has a pop-up shop for a few days in NYC but it is online only by design. I thought you would like the approach on high quality and of course for the evergreen color now. I am intrigued by the silk shirts.
