My favorite trench is the one by rag & bone. Any luck with the boots? I am still on the fence about the LR matilde boot. I am worried that it will be too dated for next fall. I did get the LR Theodora shoe in black - cute. -M
I love the rag & bone trench, too, but I'm also obsessed with the light khaki color. More impractical, but also a classic in my books. Love the Theodora flat! I think the taupe would also make an excellent neutral everyday shoe. As for the matilde boots, I'd still wear them next fall. If you want something that will last longer, an equestrian style would work better. The Matildes might need a little more definition in the ankles to avoid that 80's vibe...Regardless, I love the LR pair that I bought last spring! Can't wait to wear them when I return home.
La Garconne has the rag & bone trench in a dark olive color if you are interested. With respect to the LR shoes, I adore the taupe color and was so close to getting it but decided to go with the black (just figured it would go with more). The Matilde boots are tormenting me - I really do no want to spend all that cash on a pair of boots that are very trendy. The fact that there are knock-offs out there should be a sign that I should move on. I am still searching for a pump like the one on the impulse blog - which is nearly impossible. Every pump I see is adorned with garish baubles. Very frustrating. Did you get the Burberry trench? Nicholas K had a great trench - but I think it sold out everywhere. - M
That dark olive color at La Garconne is really beautiful, but I'm still leaning towards the khaki. I totally missed the Nicholas K trench, but there was a really nice one last year that I should have bought (I think it was called the Benoit trench). I think you should hold off on the LR boots. If they go on sale, you could buy them, but maybe you should just get something more classic. There are some really simple Tsumori Chisato boots at La Satine in black and camel. The toe is slightly pointed with a low cowboy heel. They remind me of the A.P.C. boots that I bought last year and then sold on eBay because they were too small. Too bad for me that the Tsumori's are $695!! Decently priced boots are so hard to find! The fabled A.P.C. taupe pumps that Olivia always wears in the Impulse photo shoots have been a source of torment. It's one thing to feel regret about a missed purchase. It's another thing to be reminded weekly of what you're missing out on. I was hoping they would do a similar pump this season, but no, nothing but disappointments. I'm probably going back to South Coast Plaza tomorrow to look at the Burberry again. Keep me posted on your boot search!
i tried on the rag & bone trench today at Barneys Coop and it is fantastic! stretchy and fitted, it ALMOST makes me wish i had bought that instead of the burberry trench.
I am glad that you still feel good about your choice to go with the Burberry trench. What color did you go with? I have made no progress with the boot search. I saw a pair of Barbara Bui flat boots that are nice but they are almost $900.00??!! I am just going to hold out until I find a pair that I really want without hesitation. So far I have had no luck, same thing goes with the perfect pump. I WANT the A.P.C pumps from impulse! When do you get back to the East Coast? - M
i ended up buying a trench from Bluefly. i'm assuming it's a discontinued color, but i like that it's a truer shade of khaki (less likely to show dirt and stains, i hope). those barbara bui boots are pretty nice, but i agree, it's best to wait for the perfect pair. as for those pumps, i'm still annoyed with myself for thinking i wouldn't want to wear heels. i'm flying back tonight, can't wait to see my kitties and the new trench! my mom and i ended up buying way too much stuff yesterday at south coast plaza: a demylee cashmere boatneck sweater and a bunch of guerlain skincare products. that should keep me satisfied until the winter sales...
