or what about these canvas lace-ups by f-troupe? only $120.... i can't decide whether these look too much like keds (not necessarily a bad thing, except when you want oxfords)
Canvas oxfords just don't do it for me. And I barely want to think about how dirty eggshell white canvas gets... oh, I remember my school days.
Have you looked into stodgier labels like Sebago, maybe? I like the more traditional look and bought a pair of men's Ferragamo brogues that look good (I wear a women's 9, and the conversion works out okay). Love the Rachel Comeys you had several posts ago... love all her shoes, really!
I've been dying for a good pair of oxfords for quite a few years now too. I've been obsessed with the Margaret Howell ones: http://www.elle.com/assets/image/2007/Q1/021720071058472707.jpg http://www.elle.com/assets/image/2007/Q1/021720071059276057.jpg
I'll agree with kate and viv that canvas doesn't really do it for me either. Beat up canvas Chucks look good, but oxfords? Hmmm . . . a bit skeptical on that one.
have you been checking out thrift stores? that's where i've scored all my oxfords - i'm not sure any of them are perfect, but they're so cheap it doesn't matter!
If I knew how to get my hands on the Margaret Howell shoes, I wouldn't be whining about my lack of oxfords. I would just be whining about my pathetic IRA fund. :-P
I've been trolling ebay and vintage shops, but I just haven't been very lucky lately. I've actually ordered 2 different pairs from Yoox, only to find they didn't fit, bleech.

I enjoy the Joie ones immensely, the sheen, the color, the slight bending upward of the toe? Yes yes, perfect.
i have the f troupe ones in a light gold canvas and i love them. comfy and cute.
Hm, they are kinda keddy, but they are super cute too...
I am loving the oxford obsession. I am seeing these beauties in a whole new light...
