time for my escape

i have a hard time looking at fashion week photographs, mainly because i can't even plan more than one month into the future, let alone imagine clothing that may not even make it to production eight months from now (oh, the disappointment!). so it's only been in the past few weeks that i've managed to shake off the winter blues and start planning spring outfits.

the makie striped top should be a wardrobe staple. other favorites include saint james and a.p.c.

and a simple pair of brown flat sandals for my feet, which desperately want to be liberated from socks and tights.

i missed out on steven alan's sullivan dress last fall, but seeing the spring versions makes me determined to get one this time.

and the one thing i learned last fall was i could walk in shoes with a bit of height. the pale green of no. 6's Three-Strap clog sandal may just do the trick this spring.

if i were a boy, i would stock up on gitman vintage button-down shirts. i bought matthew an oxford from stel's last winter, and it fit him beautifully.

Have you tried the Sullivan Dress on? I am also thinking of getting one but not sure if I'd need the P or S... Says it a roomy fit, so I am leaning towards P... Any thoughts you have would be awesome!

The Sullivan dress and the No 6 clogs are on my list too!! Hmmm...those sandals are pretty dreamy as well!

roberta-
i haven't tried it on yet, but stel's has it. i think it's pretty short. when in doubt, i go with my regular size with steven alan. will let you know how it goes.

The Sullivan dress is *really* short and runs small. I nearly got the L at the SS this year but it was so tiny that it was more like a tunic/top. I'm usually an L in Steven Alan but this was more like a S-M.

I love the No. 6 sandals--although I still have doubts about such inflexible soles. I also like the gold t-straps in their lookbook.

Lovely picks--as usual--Erica.

Thanks ladies - Sounds like maybe I should go for the S then... let me know how it goes Erica!

I second the opinion that the Sullivan runs short and on the small size. I'm usually a Medium in SA reverse seams and bought the Large because I wanted a bit more coverage. It also depends on the fabric -- the versions in poplin or oxford run very, very small.

ah, I wish my student budget allowed me for even a $43 splurge on a shirt! fashion will trickle down, eventually.

i have the Makie striped top & the fit is gorgeous perfection (ever so slightly fitted at shoulders, gently evolves into Makie's "away from the body" fit at the waistline)

And, oh, how the No.6 summer sandal collection is already making great waves. My only concern is that the angle looks more steep between the heel & footbed, whereas the slight angle of the clog boots suits even "non-high-heel" wearers.

i agree with the above sizing reviews of the sullivan dress. i am usually a medium in SA, sometimes a small. the medium for me was fine but i felt like a sausage in the small. i tried it on in the flannel version and i really liked how the medium fit/looked on me though like the others above, i do wish it were a bit longer.

Gosh, those flat strappy sandals look familiar....aren't they sorta similar to the pair you had custom made? I only remember, because they were AWESOME!

I love the sullivan dress...I ordered one online (final sale) and it was super snug in the bust (and I don't have much there anyways), so I have to wear it with most of the buttons undone with a shirt underneath. I later tried the next two sizes up in a store, and it did the same thing. I think the fit might be a little off, so sad, it's such a cute dress.
