i'm so sorry, erica. that's terribly upsetting. i really hope you find her as soon as possible. i'll be thinking about you guys and wishing for the best--it just makes me heartsick to hear it.
Could this be her? http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/pet/1922140206.html
In your picture she doesn't look long-haired, but I had to post this just in case. Sending the most positive thoughts and keeping my eye out (I live in Cambridge as well).
Oh I'm so sorry. But cats are clever little things, and I've heard of many that went on mini-breaks, to return like nothing had ever happened. I do wish for Turtle to be in this category.
she's an indoor cat, never been outside, so we're not quite sure how she managed to escape. she either fell off the back deck, which is under construction and usually not accessible via window, or sneaked out 2 sets of back doors. we've made flyers, contacted the Humane Society, and posted on Craigslist. now all we can do is wait. so sad.
I am so sorry to read about turtle. could she have climbed in a drawer, etc...? A cat, also a tortie, I was fostering curled up in a little used dresser to hide from some children visitors - I thought she had ran away, but i found her days later (she wasn't a meower). despite being trapped she was fine.
Cats have remarkable homing instincts. I just moved to a new apartment, and my cat ran out into the night. The apartment complex is large, and he ran into the woods behind it. I thought he would never be able to know which staircase to walk up or which door was mine. But, there he was the next morning, meowing at my door.
