pre-spring samuji at jumelle |
is it already valentine's day? and leon is turning 4 on the 22nd.
my birthday came and went. matthew got me the etoile isabel marant ouda pullover, which has kept me warm this past month.
ever since julia posted her new samuji dress, i've been hoping to check out the line in person. well, it looks like jumelle is having a sample sale that starts while i'm in nyc for 26 hours. maybe i'll be lucky and find something nice.
if you were in nyc for work and only had 7 free hours before catching your flight, where would you go, what would you do? i can't decide if it's worth going to jumelle if i'm in midtown and need to be at La Guardia by 5.30.

I would go to Tribeca because of Steven Alan Annexe, Otte and the coolest toy store ever Playing Mantis where I got puzzle letters
Noho:
have a lovely coffee at the crowded but beautiful
La Colombe @ 4th st / Lafayette st
Flip through mags at
McNally Jackson @ prince st / lafayette st
Then you could walk to east to APC (Prince st & Mercer St) or Jcrew (Prince St & Greene St)
Keep walking south and you have No. 6, CourtShop Denim, Built by Wendy and then south and Tribeca — Steven Alan and thennnn have a Jaques Torres Chocolate hot chocolate :)
thanks for the suggestions! i've never flown out of la guardia...i'm guessing i should stay put rather than go to williamsburg?
I guess it depends how you're planning to get to La Guardia. The M60 bus, the only public transportation, is a huge nightmare, and I've almost missed multiple flights because of it (still grumpy), and I would budget twice whatever time google maps says it's going to take. It also only leaves from uptown so it probably makes more sense to stay in Manhattan. That said, if you're going to take a cab, just go to Brooklyn. French Garment Cleaners is having their sample sale all this week too.
Yeah, I would just stick to the stores in Manhattan. Jumelle is just a few quick blocks from the Bedford L, but it might not be worth making the special trip out there.
If you're there Friday or Saturday you could check out the United Bamboo/Creatures of Comfort sale on Centre Street downtown instead, it's a bit closer to where you'll be...
You can also get the subway--F, E, R, M, 7-- to Jackson Heights (74th Roosevelt) and catch the Q33 bus to LaGuardia--far easier than the M60 and more reliable. I have taken it often. I'd avoid Williamsburg as Jumelle is tiny and out of your way--there is little there. Stick to Soho/Nolita or midtown/UES or UWS.
thanks for the detailed metro tips, moya! i think i will likely stick to my usual stomping grounds. this may be one of those trips where i take cabs for peace of mind....
if only i were around for the CoC sale, but i'm flying out thursday evening.
