uniqlo oxford shirt

Does it fall apart after three washes?
How is the fit?
Should I wait for a promotion, or is $29 a fair price for what you get?

I don't see the point in spending more than $50 for a oxford cotton button down shirt in white. I've never bothered to try on Uniqlo's oxford shirts while in NYC, and now I'm wondering if I should order one sight unseen. In general I would rather buy a 100% cotton shirt that isn't wrinkle-free or see-through. Maybe that's too much to ask at that price point?

A lurker here -- I've bought Uniqlo's buttondowns (in flannel and linen shirts, which are all really wonderful) and they are very well made and sturdy, the material is high quality and more substantial than J Crew, and personally for my body type (long waisted) they are a better fit, nice and straight without being overly nipped/tucked. Something to be said for production for the masses on and economies of scale.

Hi Erica,
I adore Uniqlo and I have that shirt. In fact, I own three of them now in different colors. I haven't worn them a lot, so I haven't had to wash them too many times yet, but I can say they are made of really nice fabrics and they look like they will last a very long time. Not see-through either, which I am happy with. I wear the size small. The fit is perfect. They were just on sale for $20, so I'm not sure how long it will be before they go back on sale. I ordered one at original price and the other two on sale. I say if you are in the market for one, go for it. Everything I've ever purchased from Uniqlo has been high quality. It's now my favorite place to shop! :)

Thanks, Anna and simplicityasvalue, I appreciate the feedback on the shirts. It's good to hear they're long enough and that the fit and quality seems fine. I may hold off for another $20 sale, but at least I know which size to order.

I don't have one of the cotton ones, but i have a few of the similarly cut linen ones and a flannel one and they are great! they are really sturdy too. i also love that there are no darts in the back. they seem to fit true to size too.

If you can handle the little horse logo I must agree with blogger Muffy Aldrich: the classic fit polo oxford only available at the outlet for 29.00 last I checked is super soft, nice loose fit, timeless. I did not like the thin fabric at uniqlo.

Hmm, that's an interesting thought, Mona. I'm not sure I can handle the horse logo, though. For some reason I don't mind the little sheep. Over-exposure, I guess?

I just bought a blue oxford from Uniqlo while it was on sale and totally love it. They're better made than a shirt from American Apparel or J. Crew. It's thick enough for me but I live in LA.

A and J, thanks for the input, I'm happy to hear that you love their oxford shirts!

I hear you... logos are not my thing neither but my toddler is obsessed with horses so he is so happy to point on my shirt thus I am happy. Speaking of Uniqlo I do like their eyelet loose shirt, wearing it all the time
