a.p.c. madras fall-winter 08 tunic dress

i'm not actually planning on wearing this today but i thought i should post a photo of it. the fit is pretty loose, but not too tent-like. the shoulders seemed a bit narrow at first, but after wearing it on the plane last weekend, it seems to have stretched out a tiny bit so it's more comfortable. i was worried the ombre would be too trendy, but honestly, i like it so much that i don't really care...

It looks great on you!
Love the colors too~
Quick question, is the material thick enough for winter?

with tights and a wool cardigan, maybe, but as is, not really... i'm planning on layering it this winter, hopefully it'll be warm enough with a coat.

oh my goodness, it looks fantastic on you!! so would you say it fits pretty true to size? even though you said it's a bit loose?

random but i love your old macs in the background.

alyson-

i think it fits true to size, sometimes madras runs small on me. the dress itself has a loose fit, but the shoulders are narrow enough to give it some definition. the fabric is very soft and becomes even softer with wear, which is probably why it feels a bit looser now (but not like a sackcloth).

i found those old macs on the street, i've never checked to see if they work, though...

It looks lovely on you--and so comfortable. The tightness in the shoulders is usually where I have a problem with APC and Madras as I'm broad there. It also doesn't look as though you are pregnant at all.

it is really so comfortable, although i wish there were pockets. i would say that my shoulders are borderline broad, which is a problem sometimes with apc. but oh, i suffer for it, anyway.

i can 'hide' my belly pretty well, but it is much smaller than most women at 25 weeks...i guess there will be a growth spurt in the next month or so!

it's really fantastic!
even though it's dip dyed, it feels different than most of what's been out there -maybe because of the 3 distinct sections.

Really, really cute -- I'd bet it's just as great, winterized!

what a lovely dress! i don't think the ombre is too trendy... it's a bit more frocky dip-dye - Love!

I agree - I love this. I adore the silvery stripe. I think it will look killer with tights and a cardigan for winter.

I also bought this dress for conferencing (and the blue one too, since it looks sufficiently different that you don't really notice it's the same dress). Good thing we're in different fields.

I've been wearing mine with a cotton slip underneath, belting it loosely to give some definition (for someone small, this is essential), wearing thick tights and riding boots. It's fine for winter as long as it's reinforced this way!
