tanja wanted to see better photos of my steven alan cashmere button hat. i'm not good enough at knitting to make something similar, but i hope these images help.
i would love to figure out how to crochet something similar to my other steven alan aviator cap because they no longer offer it. someday it will fall apart and i'll be very very sad.

I love this hat. I wish I could travel back in time and buy a lifetime supply.
AND YAY! CLOTHES SWAP BLOG! The name is perfect. Can I say that I want everything you have posted? I am a bad, greedy person!
This is really cute! I also like that bark-y color. Also, I'm with Stephanie re the swap blog -- I've actually shamefully put my name in the hat for almost everything. I too am very (VERY) greedy.
As an aside, I am seriously thinking of getting the APC cape you've shown -- I've never seen anyone else with it. I have to decide very quickly, as it's a miracle that any are still available...
carissa
have you seen apc's other plaid cape? it was featured on refinery29 recently. i really like the belt option.
Hey Erica, I did see the other APC cape and I like the belt too. I tried on the one that you got today and it looked like a costume on me unfortunately. Though it probably didn't help my perspective hearing the boyfriend to another shopper snickering "Sherlock" when his companion tried on a different coat with an attached capelet...
that's too bad that the cape didn't work for you, carissa. i can see how a coat with an attached cape could be considered 'sherlock holmes'-ish...
They actually still do sell that hat it's here on the website:

it's very cute on- I have one too!
it's true, they still sell the button hat, but not my crocheted aviator cap.
i think i bought my button hat for $50 on clearance, so there's a good chance they'll mark them down again...
thanks for the link, nell.
Erica, the cape is truly fantastic on you, and I love a cape -- just wish I could pull it off. Sorry for being off-topic -- on topic, I just got a card in the mail that Steven Alan's sample sale in NYC begins this Thursday...maybe some of these will be available?
Do you have a picture of this on? I'd love to make one- already working out the pattern in my head- but would like to know what it looks like as a hat- can't quite imagine.
Sorry if you've got a pic somewhere earlier on your blog-I'm a somewhat sporadic visitor.
Thanks
matt,
there are two photos of me wearing this hat from last year here:

i can take better photos and upload them this weekend if you're interested....
do you also have a photo of the crochet aviator hat? i have no idea what it looks like but it sounds great just based on the description.
grace-
i'll try to post photos over the weekend. i bought it at steven alan 2 or 3 years ago and love it to death.
this is almost exactly like the calorimetry. It is a knitting pattern and FREE! If you can't knit you can find a friend to make one for you I'm sure, they are super fast to make. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html
