summer brights

so this is what happens when you spend 6 weeks staring at jcrew catalogs after having a baby. you go to jcrew while in boston and buy an emergency mini-wardrobe of super bright t-shirts and shorts to tide you over until your old things fit again.

I'm in danger of doing something similar! T-shirts that I don't mind ruining with spit-up. Where did you gets your sandals? I'm looking for a pair in navy buy can't find any to try on.

Love the photo of the boys! Are they adjusting well?

i can't remember where i got the sandals, somewhere online. i bought the 6s (womens 8), but should have gone with the 7s because i'm probably closer to a 9.

i see other mamas with newborns wearing flowy silk tanktops and wonder if they're nursing because i sure can't deal with wearing nice things while nursing 8-10 times a day.

leon does pretty well with elias but is having a hard time unless showered with attention from mama. how are you doing, leanne?

Looks like a perfect wardrobe for a summer of wrangling kids. I could never manage to put myself in anything nice while nursing either, especially not anything that couldn't handle an easy wash and dry in the machine!

cute cute cute! they're both getting so big. wondering how leon is adjusting... we have had our challenges lately.

and what a nice cheerful palette you've chosen.

I've been feeling like buying lots of bright things too lately! For some reason I've been thinking I want a bright pink hoodie - why I could never explain! Maybe it comes with the blonde territory?! Either way coral anything seems just right right now. J crew just sent me a $25 gift card in the mail, it's kind of crazy! I was like - sweet! T-shirts!

Every time I see picture of Elias it makes me happy - his eye contact is just amazing!

leon is so cute!! how are those j crew shorts running? the bright colors are just perfect for a post-pregnancy pick-me-up. what size did you wind up buying? i think i'm too lazy to try them on in the store.

lynn--yeah, i know what you mean! there's always a pile of laundry that needs to be folded, i can never keep up.

melissa--we're struggling with leon's nap, or lack thereof. he only naps in a stroller, but we don't have a double stroller, so....ugh.

julia--when my mom saw what i had bought, she said it was such a relief to finally see me in bright cheerful colors. i love pairing coral with navy. elias is a sweetheart, you should see him smile when leon pays attention to him!

mel-- i'm wearing a 6 in the 3" chino shorts (i could barely zip them up 3 weeks ago), and a 4 in the linen bow shorts (the elastic waist helps. the shorts are a little annoying, though, because the folded hem always falls down and the elastic twists). i'm usually a 4 in the chino shorts. i probably should have bought bermudas because, ahem, the legs aren't doing so great either.

the most adorable boys! I keep going back to jcrew because I want quality and natural fibers which is becoming hard to find almost everywhere. I can now say that my jcrew cashmere is equal or better? quality than my APC 2011 cashmere sweater.
I love coral but had not thought of pairing with navy.

Hi Erica - we're hanging in there. Noah seems to like Elijah, but gets pretty excited every time that I'm able to spend time alone with him. He's extra cuddly and I can't help but love that. I think it helps that Mark is able to spend a lot of time at home with Noah these days. Watching him give "baby eli" kisses just makes my heart melt.

Nursing is challenging, more so mentally and emotionally than physically, if you know what I mean. Do things seem a little bit easier this time around? I guess in the sense that you trust your instincts more and don't fret over every little thing.

Hope that you're enjoying your j crew picks. I can't wait to head to southern California in August!

xx

too funny, michelle! i know, the colors are so much fun, but the quality...not so great.

leanne, things are easier because i'm more relaxed. i still worry about irrational things, but it helps to have an easy going baby!

oh, and i'll be in socal for most of august, too!
