a.p.c. sweater sale

so we went to nyc on saturday to see the seurat drawings and martin puryear retrospective. i wore my frye boots for the first time, which was a bad idea (blisters). but they look awesome, and i expect good things from them.

we went to the a.p.c. sale, where i toyed with the idea of buying lots of things, including skyhigh platform sandals. then i settled on this practical cashmere pullover, which had sold out on the website. whatever one may think about a.p.c.'s recent output, their cashmere wears incredibly well. this one is apparently called 'the birkin.'

a little bird (A) tells me that an a.p.c. surplus store is opening in williamsburg later this month. i am very excited. mostly because i missed out on past seasons.

lovely sweater! you're lucky that you are within traveling distance to an apc store! i got lucky on the online sale and got the dress i wanted for 1/2 off!

ooh, which dress did you buy?

Thanks for the shout-out, Erica!

I got those super-high wedges and have extended them into the winter with my hippie Muji socks! (Another 'must' stop on your next trip to NYC). Somehow I think your sweater may be the more useful choice in the long run, though...

I got the mustard coloured mini dress with the crochet/lace trim. I've been secretly crushing on that colour and after seeing the dress on a shopgirl at the apc store in paris I was sold!

fieldtrip- nice buy! I think I would wear them more in the winter with socks than in the spring/summer- those straps look like they would dig into my feet something fierce!

ooh, i love the mustard colored dress, very nice! my feet are really thin-skinned, so i'd probably have to wear moleskin and bandaids, but i'd still love those wedged sandals anyway...

the puryear exhibit was so amazing! talk about craftsmanship! i love his work and am really happy that his work is being shown at MoMA.

my feet are like that too! it doesn't matter what shoes i buy- from the (seemingly) most comfortable sneakers to the simplest sandals or even flip flops, something irritates my feet! my un-socked feet look like they've been beat up with all the scars and marks from past blisters. i bought this stuff from band-aid that is supposed to prevent blisters from happening. it's sold in a little deodorant-type stick that you rub all over problem areas (ie. my entire foot). I haven't tried it yet. Have you heard of this stuff??

Shockingly, there was no break-in time with these sandals. I've never had that with a sandal before. No blisters, nothing. Don't know how they did it...

you're so lucky that the sandals are pain-free! they look so fabulous, i wish i had tried them on before passing on them...

stephanie-
we must have the same feet! reefs, birkenstocks, crocs, dansko, ballet flats, everything hurts my feet. the only sandals that don't are my saltwaters.

i will have to try this band-aid thing. i've never heard of it, but will take a look next time i'm at the drugstore.
