how many is too many?

update**
the top dress is now on sale for $155 with an additional 30% off ('grechen') at sotto boutique (m and l only).

so i got rid of my mociun tie-front dress (blue linen) on the clothing blog in order to make room for a different one. i was thinking of getting this one, which is on sale at a few places.

but then i saw this new one from the spring 09 collection, and now i need to know,

how many is too many when it comes to mociun tie-front dresses?

love the first one!!! though i'm partial to geometric patterns. i think i might try and track down for myself (i'm on the market for preggers dresses). thanks for pointing this out. how does this dress fit? i'm normally a 2 or 4 in mayle. thanks for your help!

i just ordered the ikat print one from beklina ($170).

melissa, i think you might be an x-small if you wear a 2 or 4 in mayle. i'm usually a 4-6. it's shipping today, so i will let you know how it fits.

i'm not sure it's the best maternity option, though, since the tulip skirt is quite round in shape. and well, when you're also round, it can look a little odd. but i am excited to wear it this summer.

that's a bummer! i'm not big yet, so it still might work (for a little white). i'm normally a skinny jeans gal, and my wardrobe is all of sudden being pushed to its limit. it seems hard to find dresses that work in winter when you're starting to show. i would love any advice that you have; since i see you are nearly due! when is your due date? good luck and best wishes!

ps what size did you order?

I've wanted the one in the first photo for quite some time now. Such a neat style. If you love something, buy multiples in different colours. That theory usually applies to basics but why not Mociun tie-front dresses?! They are both divine. Maybe you need to treat yourself for your upcoming event...buy them, wrap them up, and attach a card from your new little man to you...

i love the geometric one too - good choice :) I am looking longingly at the various swimmers they have in the cream/grey/black print - i could really use some now.melbourne is steaming hot.

melissa-
i ordered the small. i found that i preferred tighter tops because otherwise i felt shapeless. the bella band worked for my jeans until about week 28, but if you're due in the summer or early fall, you can probably just wear leggings, tunics, and sun dresses. for the most part i've been able to wear my regular clothing, but these final few weeks are going to be rough.

it's a question i've asked myself!
i have 3 tie fronts now, and that's enough. although i'd really love another....

I have the 1st tulip dress with the geometric pattern. I'm barely 5'3" and thought that the dress was too short. I ended up taking it to a tailor who turned the dress into a cute (and wearable) top.

lsk-
it was definitely short on me, too, and i'm only 5'5", but i think i'll wear it with leggings. my pocket front mociun dress is also very short, but works well as tunic top.

it sounds like you found a good solution, too!

As long as she keeps coming up with these gorgeous patterns, there's no good answer!

i really like the print on the first dress, not crazy about the second one. its great when you find a silhouette that flatters you well! also, i tagged you ;)

hmm - i'd go with a few. they're all radically different, creative prints. i'm sure that if you get tired of it you could sell it to someone else :)

I love the print on the first one - oh I really do.

erica how much longer 'til D Day now? Must be soon...

erica said...

d-day is the 24th, but who knows when it'll be? i'll be working til the last minute so that i can take 3 weeks "off."

they shipped my dress the other day, hope it comes soon!

maybe you can never have too many. but i love the top one best.

I like them both--they are very different, even though they are the same style. I love the tie front Motion dresses but they just don't hang right on. me. I wish they'd remake your pocket front dress, Erica.

Oh yes, yes yes yes, very problematic, I go for the red one, it is brilliant!

Mociun also used to make a lovely mini muu-muu dress, and I wish I had bought one a few years back. I would also love another pocket-front dress, it's so easy to wear.

The tie-front is tricky since it doesn't fit very well under my jackets and coats. But you can always belt it with the ties hanging loose, I guess.

Erica, to throw another Mociun tie-front dress into the mix, I just came across this one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/MOCIUN-TIE-FRONT-TULIP-DRESS-print-opening-ceremony-SM_W0QQitemZ330305246450QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_WC_Dresses?hash=item330305246450&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1494%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Enjoy your final few weeks of pregnancy and stay healthy!!

Erica,

I love all the Mociun dresses you've highlighted! But on an unrelated note, I wanted to tell you the Thea dress (in black) is on sale for $269 at Bird. I tried it on and liked it, but went instead for the Mayle Jeanne cream-colored sweater dress/tunic ($109!!!!) and some Zero Maria Cornejo basic slim cut pants ($129!) instead. So there are Theas out there, on sale...it's so hard to pass up deals lately even where I should so I understood this post!

erica said...

kristien-
thanks for the ebay link!

carissa-
$269 is really good for the thea, but sigh, i wanted it in putty. it sounds like you made some pretty good purchases. i agree, it's hard to pass up the deals. i'm trying to pare down the closet, but i also feel like these deals aren't going to happen again once buyers become more cautious about potential markdowns, etc. plus, mayle is going to close soon (not just yet), and these were some of my favorite collections.

really loved #1, but #2 is gorgeous as well. all this talk about prints and tulip dresses is making me want to take my united bamboo print dress out for a spin :)

Hi there!

Been reading your blog for ages, and I love love it! I had taken a break and just realized your preggers...Congratulations!!
On another note, where did you get the lovely brown boots paired with the annelore dress? (Does not look too stretchy by the way) You really have a knack for always looking sophisticated and pulled together!!

erica said...

hi megan

the boots are frye paige. i think i saw them on sale last month, i cannot recommend them highly enough!
