matta spring 09

matta rabari cotton top, $164 at nonchalant mom.

here's a wrap top that i can actually see myself wearing.

and this dress would be great for summer museum outings. both are well under $200, which somehow seems like a bargain to my shopping-starved eyes. today i bought a one-piece for leon from baby gap. i love dressing him up, but honestly, i need/want clothing, too!

Did you go for the lovely Mayle dress on ebay?

no, i had to go out while it was ending and forgot to bid. it's a pity, it sold for about as much as one of these tops!

do you know about auctionsniper.com and/or similar sites? the site places a bid for you within a few seconds of the auction's end. the first few "snipes" are free, after, the fee is 1% if you win the auction and nothing if you don't. super easy to use - after registering, you just cut/paste the ebay item number, the max you want to bid, and the lead time (the number of seconds to place bid before the auction ends, i usually put in 4).

ohh i love the b/w dress...

that b/w dress is pretty neat. i keep imagining a skinny red patent belt somewhere to top off a perfect summery afternoon look.

I love both of these and they are affordable. It's a shame you missed the Mayle auction. Of late, people seem to be hanging onto their Mayle. Or maybe it just that there hasn't been much in my size out there.

romaine, thanks for the ebay auction tip. i feel so dumb for missing out, the dress went for so little, it would have been worth signing up for. i'll keep it in mind for next time.

the b&w dress is one of my favorites, such an interesting pattern. i am feeling that there haven't been too many nice Mayle pieces, either, moya. at least you've picked up a few gorgeous pieces lately. i wish i could go to nyc, but leon is not cooperative!

i found a few cute things at petite bateau this weekend (for grownups), including a striped shirt in a super heavy cotton:

along with a great pair of cropped pleated black pants from comptoir des cotonniers.

(the pair on the right are the same, just different color so you can see the detail better)

I think both sell in the US as ewll

sara,
cute cdc pants!
last time i was at the petit bateau shop, they didn't have the striped shirt in navy and white, but maybe their spring shipment hadn't arrived yet?

sigh, i wish they weren't so expensive, it's always such a disappointment when i see the price in euros first ;)

ahh, they mark them up like crazy! the euro price in dollars should really only be $50. im headed to NY later next month, and probably to petite bateau before then (or wouldnt mind the excuse). Let me know if you want me to pick one up for you and mail it to you from NY. they have little boy ones too...

oh i know, isn't it so obnoxious? i'm sure it has something to do with import fees or whatnot, but still...

if you could pick up a top for me and the baby, that would be amazing!
