f-troupe canvas lace-ups

or what about these canvas lace-ups by f-troupe? only $120....
i can't decide whether these look too much like keds
(not necessarily a bad thing, except when you want oxfords)

shaybelle

I found Shaybelle's lovely designs through Chelsea and Unruly Things. I have been patiently waiting for Jenny's new collection, but I really 'needed' some handmade clothing 'right now' [.....] so, I couldn't decide between the Carpenter (top) and Prim (bottom) dresses by Shaybelle, but I finally settled on the latter. I don't think this will be the last time I order something from her, though, so there's no rush [....] I have something else in the works that I'm really excited about.

I've decided to see how long I can last buying only handmade or used clothing.

lebouton skirts

le bouton studio has a new line of clothing that can be seen here. the green skirt is in corduroy, and the coated linen version has such a perfect lining. they are $140 each and so perfect for everyday wear.

spring cleaning

Another Etsy shop update to look forward to. Martha of Uniform-Studio will be having a spring cleaning sale starting tomorrow (Thursday) at 1pm cst. Thankfully I will be done with teaching by then, so I can wait patiently for the images to upload. I love the combination of greys with splashes of orange, ochre, and green in her work. It doesn't hurt that she's an architect, either. Her new collection will go on sale later this month, I think.

march

I wanted one of these, but I was too slow. Ahhh, Etsy...

But I did manage to get one of these little lambs. So far, March has been more lamb and less lion. I'm not exactly thrilled by the wind and the rain, but the 40 degree temperature is sheer loveliness.

*Everything sold in under 10 minutes. It was about as intense as a Wiksten shop update!

vintage sunday

Joanna clued me in to Ramonawest's amazing Etsy shop, and now I obsessively check her site at least once a day. The oxfords are size 8.5/9 and only $49. The dress is M/L, but probably will fit a small, too, and has one of the best prints I've seen in a long while ($42).

rachel comey collins men brogue

plus: not suede. traditional detailing.
minus: ten dollars more.

too many options....

Edit:: I Bought Them! Huge thanks to Style Bite for the coupon code "Spring08" (valid on orders over $200 until March 7).

Edit:: You can find them at Mick Margo, Bird, and at Kick Pleat. La Garconne has a high-heel version in white. I am assuming more Rachel Comey oxford styles will be trickling in during the next week or so.

Update:: Tragedy. They are perfect and adorable, BUT--they are digging into my ankle bone. I refuse to suffer for cute shoes. Especially $230 shoes. Maybe it's time for me to buy Repetto Zizis....

endless oxford search

Let's put it this way: they aren't cheap ($264), and suede can dirty easily. But, they look comfortable and stylish, and the color is perfect. Have I finally found my oxfords?

edit:::They're by Opening Ceremony, available at Impulse.

are white oxfords a bad idea?
repetto zizi, $180

new mittens

i received these perfect mittens from erica yesterday. they're deep olive-white and fit my hands exactly. i just took them out for a morning jog (wind chill 13 degrees), and they were extremely warm and comfortable to wear. i've never owned a pair of mittens that fits so precisely, and they're beautiful to look at, too. thanks erica!

zero maria cornejo

i ordered this tunic dress from Maria Cornejo yesterday and it arrived today. i guess that $20 shipping fee was worth something after all! as with all of her pieces, everything is simple yet expertly designed and constructed, which is what i really gravitate towards nowadays. case in point: wiksten made, green olives design, uniform-studio, and le bouton studio.

i didn't realize how sheer the silk/cotton fabric is, so i will have to figure out a better way of wearing it. maybe uniformly darker clothing underneath? any thoughts?

Zero Maria Cornejo silk shirting tunic dress. $135, originally $540.

a.p.c floral print

the top image is from the a.p.c. s/s 08 look book. a few more images can be seen here. i really like the retro floral print, but of course it isn't available in a.p.c.'s online shop. i guess i better plan a trip to NYC to see the new collection before everything that isn't on the website sells out.

mociun spring 2008

update::
the look book is still nowhere to be found, but beklina now has a few pieces available.

i haven't been able to find many photos of caitlin mociun's new collection online. the top image is from Sotto Boutique. there are a few more photos on their site. i found this dress on Last Waltz's shop blog.

i found this quote regarding the new collection: "For my spring 2008 collection, I'll be using the art of Kiki Smith, Bauhaus textiles and color exercise paintings, and late 18th-century nightgowns as inspiration."

i'm really excited by the new shapes and cuts. i hope the look book is available online soon, as i have been waiting impatiently for this collection since november.

love

sleepyhead at a party

taken by steve, jan. 20, 2008, at the diesel/bloc holiday party

i don't know why, but lately i look either miserable or sleepy in photos.

biking v. walking

it may have been 20 degrees today, but that didn't stop me from wearing a short skirt. i wish my long cardigan was more like jenny's, but oh well, it's best to make do with what you have. i didn't consciously intend to wear purple tights with a purple coat, but goodness, that's a lot of purple! anyway, there's nothing better than riding my bike to work. 6 minutes on the bike versus 15 minutes by foot? hm.

what i wore today:
jcrew liberty print shirt
theory merino wool cardigan
theory denim miniskirt
falke tights
lyell peacoat
frye paige riding boots
